(PRESS) Hong Kong’s two main jewelry trade fairs, the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show and the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, will resume their traditional format of separate venues after the pandemic disruption. The Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show will be held at AsiaWorld-Expo from February 27 to March 2, while the Jewellery Fair will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from February 29 to March 4. This dual-show format is designed to provide ample opportunities for global trade and sourcing for industry professionals.

Sophia Chong: HKTDC’s deputy executive director, announced that over 40 countries and regions will be represented by 4,000 exhibitors at this year’s jewelry exhibitions. The theme for this year’s event is “Be Part of the Splendid Legacy”. The magnitude of the fairs is comparable to pre-pandemic levels, with 60% of exhibitors coming from outside Hong Kong. This emphasizes Hong Kong’s prominence as a global trade and jewelry sourcing hub. Over 90 buyer missions from 65 countries and regions are expected to attend the exhibitions.

Hong Kong’s fine jewelry : exports showed a remarkable recovery in 2023. There was a substantial 23% increase compared to 2022, reaching HK$87.8 billion (US$11.2 billion). It surpassed pre-pandemic levels by 40% compared to 2019. Notably, exports to Mainland China experienced a significant year-over-year growth of over 20%. Furthermore, exports to the United States and Switzerland also witnessed growth, with increases of 16% and 82% respectively.

The jewelry trade : fairs showcase 36 pavilions from various countries and organizations globally. These pavilions include geographic regions such as Belgium, Brazil, Mainland China, Colombia, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Türkiye, along with a debut pavilion from Malaysia. Industry-specific pavilions like the Tanzanite Foundation, Asia Pacific Creators Association, and International Coloured Gems Association will also be returning. Additionally, a new T-GOLD+METS Pavilion, organized by the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers’ Association and Italian Exhibition Group, will focus on jewelry manufacturing machinery.

The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show exhibits international brands and designers in specialized zones. One of these zones is the Hall of Extraordinary, featuring 78 international exhibitors. They showcase jewelry with diamonds, gemstones, jade, and pearls. Among them is Hong Kong exhibitor Hatta New World Company Limited, their notable piece being a jewelry set worth over HK$15 million. The set includes a necklace, ring, and earrings showcasing approximately 110-carat Brazilian Paraiba tourmalines, known for their rare blue coloration.

The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show will feature numerous diamond, gemstone, and pearl exhibitors. It will have three high-end product zones: the Hall of Fine Diamond, Treasures of Nature, and Treasures of Ocean. These zones will showcase top-quality diamonds, gemstones, pearls, and raw materials from around the world. One notable exhibit is the rare orange fancy color diamond from Color Diamond Trading Co. (Booth: AWE 5-G06), which weighs 1.03 carats and is believed to be highly sought after by collectors and jewelry traders.

The HKTDC Marketplace App and official websites of the two shows will enable buyers to pre-register, authenticate themselves through the app, and download their eBadge for swift entry, minimizing waiting times and enhancing sourcing efficiency. Moreover, buyers can utilize the Scan2Match feature during the physical exhibition to scan exhibitors’ unique QR codes. This allows them to bookmark preferred exhibitors, browse product information, and continue conversations with exhibitors online during or after the show.
